After both sides crippled their oppositions in the round of 16 of the Uefa Champions League, Bayern Munich players seem to be more than ready to face Barcelona.
We previously reported that in the round of 16 ties, Barcelona wrecked Napoli while Bayern also defeated Chelsea 4-1 which saw Lewandowski give two assists while also getting two goals for himself at the Allianz Arena in the second leg of their match after beating Chelsea 3-0 at the Stamford bridge in the first leg of the tie.
Messi and Lewandowski were compared head to head as this season, the Poland striker has been in a very scintillating form which led him to win the golden boot of the Bundesliga while Messi also finished as the highest goal scorer of the Laliga.
In a comparison of the Polish striker to Messi, Lewandowski’s teammate, Thomas Muller, has interceded while unwrapping that the stage is set for Robert Lewandowski to speak for himself on Friday as Barcelona and Bayern were tangled to face eachother in the quarterfinal knockout stage.
While speaking, Muller said
We’ll see that on Friday. Lewy will have to answer this question. Messi also played very well today. But it’s up to Lewy and us to answer this question in Lewy’s favour on Friday.”
Muller also mentioned that Barcelona is indisposable and shouldn’t be written off and seen as the underdogs of the upcoming match despite that they didn’t win the Laliga title this season.
Muller continued by saying
Barca may not have won the Spanish championship and they have certainly revealed some problems, but anything can happen in these knockout games. Any run can end there if you have a bad day
Bayern’s manager also praised Lewandowski’s impact in the match against Chelsea. Hasen Flick talked about how worried he was as Chelsea showed a lot of class and competency in some parts of the game
We would not mind if he continued like this. He showed again today how important he is for us. He not only scored two goals but also assisted two goals.
We are very happy that we have him in our team. I was a little more tense than usual. I had a lot of respect for Chelsea because the team is very speedy.
Chelsea has a very exciting team with many young, talented players and I am excited to see how the next few years will look. I was very happy with the way we came back after the short break. We were very dominant in the first 30 minutes, that was really good. In the second half, we got the game back on track and earned this win
