Louis Van Gaal has disclosed what he feels about the transfer of Donny Van de Beek, who after a vibrant and prodigious season at Ajax, moved from Ajax to Manchester United earlier this year.
The Netherlands playmaker was the center of attention as he had great standards of Manchester United fans to help reinforce the midfield and creative force of the club but sadly, the reverse is the case as the midfielder had only started two matches for Red Devils since he joined the Ole Gunner side.
In his statement, Louis Van Gaal said the Dutch player ought to have been aware of the potential Manchester United boasts of in their midfield and he should not have made the transfer occur.
Louis Van Gaal says that he hopes that Van de Beek’s time will come but he doesn’t think that he made a good choice by moving to Old Trafford.
Van Gaal, while speaking about the decision of his fellow countryman to a Dutch television channel, Ziggo, said that
I hope his time will come, but I don’t think he made a good choice, I said that right away. If you have Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes, what position should Van de Beek be in?
He doesn’t have the qualities of Pogba and Fernandes. And now you see that Pogba often doesn’t start. Where should Van de Beek play then? I think you could have seen that beforehand.
There are so many teams, which could have done better justice to him, also in the top division. He is a boy with many qualities.
